One of my favorite Dreyfuss movies is 1974 "The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz" Could that movie be made today? NOOOO. In it, he plays an ambitious Jewish kid with dreams of real estate success. Even to the successful Jews at the summer camp he works at, he makes them question the price of success. What does it mean to be Jewish? Does he step over the line? I'm not going to give anything away because I hope anyone who has the chance will watch this deep and complex movie. Don't get me wrong, the movie is NOT about Jewish issues, but they are clearly present.

In focusing on black and gender issues the people in Hollywood who Dave Chappelle points out "may or may not be Jewish" turn away from their own dirty laundry. If it weren't for Larry David's occasional potshots, Jews would be as self-reflective as Trumpers.

Dreyfus couldn't get into that. Like Chappelle says, Better not to use the word "Jew" period. We'll tell you what you can talk about.
