Perhaps a reason women (girls) have been more affected is that they're lost their biological place in running the community and family. Through gossip, they keep everyone entertained and informed. Now the phone has taken that place and created other distortions. Women love their phones the most, it seems to me, but i feel they get the least out of them. Phones can't replace their sense of family and community. I think we'd see the same effect if we took babies away from mothers and had them brought up by computers ;)

Men can still go do sports and live in their competitive fantasy world. Women don't have the same in-person groups to join.

Of course, these effects are on everyone. When I found my wife I was thrilled to find someone to keep me entertained ;) As my wife probably felt the same. I have 3 daughters. It depresses me they can replace a companion with a screen. My wife spends a lot of time on her phone. Sounds like yours. We've been married almost the same time. She probably thinks, "Best of both worlds!" HAHA
