Right, put acceleration and speed regulators in the EVs so they aren't faster than ICE vehicles then let's see how many people buy them. Or make sure all subsidies for EVs go to fund cheap EVs for everyone else--or, just TAX the EVs for recycling costs up front.
There's no reason we couldn't have swappable batteries from the start. Many tried. Or better electric infrastructure. The EV market won't grow far past the point of the population wealthy enough to have their own house and power supply.
Most poor people can't get a bus or train into the city, but we're going to make EVs and charging stations affordable? HA!
