The CDC and politicians allowed scientists with skeptical views to be attacked early on. By 2021, they gave up ceding all the discussion to the sphere of politicians not qualified to talk science. American anti-intellectualism at its finest. A mass confusion that technology does NOT equal science. They are different pursuits. Without science properly checking technology you end up with snake oil and potentially bad side effects.
