The rich who hide in gated communities? Either physically in suburbs, or in the cities through economic red-lining (because the poor can’t afford to live near them) — they’ll take care of themselves. Their lawyers. Their accountants. Their crypto and accounts in the Cayman Islands.

Curiously, in the same image, Trump trolls big industry. Bureaucracy is delaying his new Air Force One and he just needs to threaten Boeing to get it done.

AS IF.

When I was young (1960s–70s) it was understood by us Privileged White Males that a show of gold was ostentatious. And rude. And projected insecurity and weakness. I wasn’t a wealthy white male, but I can tell you none of my wealthy friends rubbed their wealth into my face.

That was their art, to show off their wealth by other means. Just like it is the art of some on Medium to tell me, as a white man, to f-off — HAHA!

It was once one of those Anglo-American values to go out of one’s way treat those less fortunate than you with extra respect.
