When Has Trump Negotiated Anything of Importance?
I want to believe this one sticks. Forty-seven years of hostility with Iran, the Strait reopened, the markets calm, everyone back to making money — of course that’s what we want.
Of course Israel should stop bombing Lebanon. Of course Russia and Ukraine should stop trading body counts like trophies. We all know these wars are stupid.
Yet we all know, somewhere in the back of our minds, how this ends.
Never gonna get it. Trump is delusional.
It makes sense Trump will meet with Zelensky at the G7 summit — getting Ukraine to a deal with Russia is one of those “economy of scale” benefits that’s supposed to follow from fixing Iran. Trump will have the bandwidth to post about that too. Let’s wait and see.
Trump has always been a man of common sense. It’s common sense to pursue peace with Iran. It’s common sense to open the Strait. It’s common sense to stop the bombing in Lebanon. It just takes time — coming on four months now — for common sense to do something.
