The President is a unique position, not like Senators, Congressmen, etc. I believe we have a genetic tendency to follow a King, a Queen, or someone in the place of God, or prime mover, whatever you want to call it. The main thing, is there has to be something independent about them.
Trump says he will end the war in Ukraine. Harris says nothing on the subject. The round goes to one who threw a punch that misses over the one who threw no punch at all.
Hillary Clinton, as I argued, was part of the "system". Same for Harris. They aren't their own people. Warren is a whiner. Many people can't be elected to President because they just don't have the right personality. Just the way it is.
I could never win an election no matter how hard I tried to behave. My personality would get out.
Currently, both the GOP and Democrats stifle anyone who might rise from their ranks and become independent. Ultimately, they pushed Sanders out. They pushed Al Franken out. Schumer and Pelosi do everything they can to keep their backroom power at the expense of everyone else. Was same for Mitch McConnell. All the leaders of each party.
What the media never mentions is that within each party there is no agreement, no effort to do anything. The partisanship is a minor problem in comparison.
As soon as someone rises above anyone else in the part they are cut down.
This isn't new. Lincoln wasn't chosen because everyone wanted him. He was chosen because he didn't ruffle the feathers the other candidates did. I don't remember details.
Sure, it's harder for a woman. You pointed that out with hard numbers. A -5% handicap. But I think that could be overcome.
I'm a broken record. We're in World War. Nothing will change about Western politics until so many people are dead that the political parties are completely wrecked and reasonable people will once again be favored by the public. Not sure I will live to see that turn.
