The problem for Medium's staff, as it is for us all, isn't deciding between political parties. The problem is assimilating an idea which doesn't fit one's current world view, perspective, framework, core beliefs.

In your last story, which I thought very insightful, you point out that whatever one may think about Trump, those who seem to support him have views that are alienating to us literate types Shouldn't we put those feeling aside? Does our hatred for Trump block out their legitimate complaints about the government or society? Perspectives that may have more truth than what we believe to understand?

Not all ideas lend themselves to writing. Jonathan Haidt points out that "educated" people, like many who read/write on Medium, have an aversion to the "sacred," to inarticulate feelings. Our attitude is that all things which can't be articulated are probably superstition, rooted in atavistic jealousy, anger, hatred, etc.

So it isn't that Medium leans left. It leans towards those who defend our current rationales.

When you write about sleeping in separate beds you write outside my framework. It challenges me to think about what relationship are based on. Love? Haha! Shared interests. Doggy like need to a warm body? If we don't need to sleep together would my living with you be the same as marriage?! (hehe). Would that life with a Penguin be more fulfilling than a life of snuggles with my wife?

Your views seldom fit into the current consensus. I don't believe mine do either. We can never be boosted because we write about questions, which come with unease, not answers--arguments--that increase someone's security and reduce anxiety (though of course for those who think like us we do give comfort).

My only blocked story on Medium was ahead of its time. I explain why there have been threads in the Jewish narrative in the U.S. that contribute to Israel's radicalism. I didn't want to fight that one.

Fortunately, there are others who do it better than me. Like Joe Brunoli https://medium.com/search?q=brunoli

Or Billy Jones https://medium.com/@billyjones_52047

I don't agree with everything they write. Yet for every one nine arguments I might disagree with they make one which expands my perspective, in a way I don't get anywhere else.

Medium has NOT blocked them, though I believe it threated to do so at the same time Medium threatened me. So I do believe Medium stumbles, but so far, gets it right in the end.

Medium, like any publication, is always going to have its unwritten rules and beliefs. By definition, it can't be a true anarchy.

I'm surprised you don't disagree with "Both of America's choices for President are old, but only one of them acts like an adult." WTF Penguin. Biden is as anti-Penguin as you can get. He's the front man for every swindler under the sun. He would never repeat anything you said. He's no adult. He's central casting for some 1950s American leader in looks only.

Here's may Penguin like rant against Biden: https://medium.com/@maxrottersman/biden-is-killing-more-ukrainians-than-putin-92019ff30ae2

Trump on the other hand. I could imagine someone quoting you and he repeating it in a tweet. As much as I can't stand trump I'd rather have dinner with him over Biden any time.

Whatever kryptonite is slung over your neck, Penguin (do penguins have necks), time to fling it away!

The more people hate your stories, the less likely they are to be boosted, the closer you probably are to something that everyone says is false today, but true in the future.
