The simple answer is that if you bury children in rubble to defend yourself maybe what you're defending isn't worth it.

If Israel wants to kill all the Palestinians, just because, well, okay. But to say it is the persecuted ones, that it needs to "defend" itself, that it is more rights to the land than those descended from those who originally lived there (Palestinians weren't recently bused into the area). That's not lost on "the world."
Israel listens to no one. Not God as depicted in its own religious texts. Not it's biggest benefactor the U.S. No one. I'm just answered your question for "the world" as I see it.
Just because Hamas and Hezbollah are "evil" doesn't make Israel "good." The harder one argues that the problem is Hamas the more one wonders--what about your part in this?
