There is possibility of a good reset for everyone. The conflict can be viewed in very simple terms. The BUYERS of Russian resources didn't want to fund an autocracy (limited rights for property, as you point out! Not only Yukos, but industries in Crimea and Donbas). Putin, the SELLER, believed he had them over the proverbial barrel (dependency on gas and military might).

I believe the BUYERS will win here. That's what most Russians want because they get more from them (spiritually) than their own SELLERS (as you point out).

Putin will be removed. Of that I haven't a doubt. But can Russians do it without chaos. The West aren't a bunch of saints. They'd LOVE to get complete foreign ownership. I hope that he's removed. The Russian government says its in transition. The troops are pulled back. The West does the right thing.
