This is exactly what I'm talking about. Characterizing me as some old-school "alpha" white guy. I'm just a person. If one wants me to join their cause, how does insulting me make that more likely? But even if I am some arrogant white guy, what of it? Why must a relationship be predefined by some role I'm supposed to play because I'm white.

Should I expect all defensive "radical" black guys to swoop in and fix our ills? Would a black like to be characterized like that?

The past is the past. I disagree with you here. It has nothing to do with anything. For example, one of my bugbears. I look at prison populations and see that blacks make up double what we should expect statistically. Where are are these young people you talk about demanding a change to that?

Why is it an "alpha" white male who is super pissed off this problem isn't being fixed? I'll tell you why, because talk is cheap these days. Young people accept people for saying what they want to hear, not what they don't want to hear because they do nothing about it. (this is the same for all generations, of course).
