Threat to what? People whose copyrighted material feeds it You can bet they'll eventually mobilize. Natural language processing has been around for a long time. The only difference now is that the big money is going to push through the copyright legal costs to monetize essentially stuff YOU and others wrote.

Why now and not years ago when I claim the tech existed? Because ad revenues in social media are declining at frightening rates and they're THAT motivated to push through the legal barriers to built a new business to create advertising (or subscriptions) for.

I agree it's a big story. But I feel you're not looking behind the doors here. The major media narrative is driven by the need to scare readers into reading (as always). "You'll lose your job, so you better read this". Isn't that what you're doing?

Because I'm saying it can only plagiarize and you're arguing what? That it doesn't need to plagiarize? It writes those answers thinking on its own?
