We all need to believe in something. I wish I could believe Biden was better than Trump. I REALLY DO. As I said, my wife gets very annoyed with me about it.

I write on Medium because I have never accepted things a priori. I question everything. If everyone believes something, I ask why? Who believes what? What are their interests? Who wants them to believe X or Y?

The U.S., well any federation of States, is always in a state of civil war. Sometimes hot (like now), sometimes cold (like the 1990s). When it's hot one part of the country is feeling left out.

Trump speaks to them. Biden speaks to those who aren't left out. Who could borrow at 3% to buy homes while those without high paying jobs or properties in cities had to borrow at 20% on their credit card. I bet most Trump supporters are in debts and most Biden supporters are not (or if they are have access to emergency money if needed).

Neither create or fix that situation. The world is always that way. But again, sometimes more even than others. We don't live in even times. I believe Trump at least gives many Americans hope, as misguided as it is. Biden offers them nothing but more debt and the prospect of fighting wars in the South China Seas (while forgiving a pittance, in the scheme of things, of some student debt).

I'm basically a New Yorker. I've "followed" Trump my whole life. He entered my deplorable list when he took out an NYT advert basically saying the Central Park Five should be hung. (they were later exonerated). I probably hate him more than you do. Seriously.

But we're talking something much bigger than Trump or Biden. Or I hope we are!
