What I'd do too. But you and I are not governments. Governments must try to protect the wellbeing of all its citizens. Governments often have to sacrifice the good of the few for the good of the many. And in a sense, that's exactly what Netanyahu did by under-defending those towns and putting more effort into the West Bank. Maybe it was an honest mistake. Maybe no one could have known this would happen. I don't know. But I believe if all of Israel voted on what to do next, attacking Gaza as it was attacked would be far from unanimous. It might have nothing to do with the health of the Palestinians in Gaza. It would be an historical understanding that many Jews have that, right or wrong, fair or not, Jews do not do well when much of the world starts to turn against them, as it is.
