When we're afraid we all want a killer to protect us. Human nature. Israel's far-right politicians try to scare everyone so when something happens it's exponentially more fearful.

"From 2008 till September 2023, 6,407 Palestinians were recorded to have been killed, more than half through missile attacks. During the same period, the UN recorded the death of 308 Israelis in conflict situations."

That's 20 Israelis a year. 428 Palestinians. If we split up that 1200 it would be 100 a year total and around 1,700 Palestinians per year.

What I'm saying is your friend, per your other comment, has turned away from the truth that for every Israeli who dies, 20 Palestinians die. They might rationalize, well, they attack us first. 20 attack each one Israeli on average? Doesn't make sense. What I'm saying in article is your friend is having a hard reaction because they know, deep down, you can't fix 15 years of the problem (whoever caused it, is to blame, etc). All that matters now is safety.

They can't blame Netanyahu because they know it's just as much of their blame for voting for him, or others like him, over and over again, to have those years of relative peace. Even if they don't recognize it. Again, safety now is all they'll look at it. They're paralyzed in fear.

For that reason, I believe Israel will go far, far-right for a while longer before many Israelis literally come to their senses.

Sorry for the ramble.
