Why were the immigrants in the boats off Greece in the first place? Is the reason they left home categorically different from the reason those people in the submersible left home?
Would you get in that submersible if you were PAID $250,000? (I wouldn't).
If you knew for sure you'd become a billionaire if you NEVER wrote again and accepted that everyone would want something from you (money) would you take that devil's bargain?
I understand how you feel. We all feel it who have limited money. Perhaps you're right that the world is grossly unfair I wish I could feel the same. It would make it easier to solve my problems--just get more money!
The $250K they paid didn't go into some bank account. It was the salaries and wages of thousands of people who probably chose (happily) to work on the technology and logistics to make those trips happen. Sure, if one REALLY wanted to go on the sub I could understand resentment. But if not? I applaud their effort to achieve something.
Being a billionaire doesn't make you a bad person any more than being an immigrant makes you a criminal or freeloader. It's not wrong to feel repugnant. But even if you had all the money in the world and gave it out equally would everyone be happy? I ask you.
