Here’s the test. If you’re looking for a job, running a small business seeking contracts, or trying to join a particular group — which scenario would you prefer?

Choice A.

You interview with one person who has complete hiring authority. Everything comes down to your one-on-one interaction. If they like you, you’re hired. If they don’t, you’re not. There are no appeals. Side note: The TV Show “The Apprentice” was based on this concept. Although there were teams and managers and goals, Trump — one man alone — decided who would stay and who would go.

Choice B

You interview with a group of people who collectively have hiring authority. They make their decision behind closed doors. Theoretically, if you meet more of their requirements than other candidates, you’re hired.

If you picked Choice A — opportunity through person-to-person engagement — there’s a greater probability you’d vote Republican (Trump). Those who lean Republican generally believe all power should flow through individuals. This doesn’t mean…
