Yes, I’m not surprised at all. The more I learn the more I believe “harming civilians” came down from the top. I’m super critical of the U.S.; however, I believe the basic facts get out from our military adventures. We know we use drones to go after enemies. We know the process. We have some idea how many people are killed. There is a conversation. Our government doesn’t categorically deny that civilians are killed.
When really bad things happen, like the family killed during the Afghan pull-out, it is exposed. I just can imagine the U.S. doing the kinds of things the Russians did in those town, but not at nearly that scale, maybe a few here or there, not in the thousands.
Like you, I think we have to focus on this question. If this is institutionalized war crimes then is the U.S. doing enough?
