Yes, I've been following the Yemen situation for quite some time and my guess is the U.S. is responsible for more deaths there than in Gaza. But there's a difference. The militants in Yemen aren't kept behind a wall.

Israel gets special treatment from the West because of its history and efforts to be an open, critical democracy. "Walz With Bashir", for example, is not a movie that would get made and watched in Saudi Arabia about Yemen. That seems ages ago.

When someone criticizes you, you're free to argue back, to have a knee jerk reaction. But after a while, you need to do some soul searching. Netanyahu and his government do none of that. They're always on the attack.

Anyway, the reason Israel gets so much scrutiny is Israeli Jews have always said they are God fearing democratic people. The Holocaust was big and the world did care. Then later generations put a yellow Star of David on their jackets to justify continuing their "war" against another people? Who are they to speak for the Dead?

Was that or the U.N. Charter shredded in your name. Please tell me.

In the end, there is no justification for anything. What have Jews done for the world lately? As I've pointed out in my other pieces. I remember so many Jews who served others. Who stood up for the downtrodden (like for those in Gaza who did nothing to deserve a lifetime stuck there). They're still out there. But they've been swamped. And now others speak for the Jews to my humiliation and sadness.

Forget about what's justified. Tell me what you stand for? What is specific to being Jewish to you?
