Yes, not much to look up to in the U.S.A., these days. Most things going in the wrong direction, as I commented. However, I believe the U.S. will find its mojo again, though probably not in my lifetime (I'm 61). We still have 50 million foreign born people. We're still a very energetic, risk-taking culture. In the 70s I was afraid to walk many parts of NYCs. I never saw that it would change as much as it did in the following decades.

When I visited Europe in my 20s I thought it cute, but ultimately, stale. I haven't traveling much lately.

Germany has made the right move by taking in so many immigrants. I expect it will become the U.S. of Europe now that Russia has galvanized it. Same for Poland. Germany, Poland, Ukraine, even Britain, they're all going in the right direction though it doesn't seem it now.

And the U.S., but not until after loses all it takes for granted ;)
