Yes, the U.S. has a long history of abandoning friends in need. You won't get an argument here! Also, to be clear, the U.S. couldn't care less about Ukraine. I don't want you to think I'm romantacizing U.S. support. Obama drew a "red line" in Syria and played dumb when it was crossed. So I get where you're coming from!

Just like Putin can't afford to back down (and he can't, if he's selfish, which he is) the U.S. can't afford to let Russia win either. Many believe the U.S. has a better chance of leaving with a new government, say in 2024, then Putin, who will stay in power. I don't see it because there are some foreign policy issues that are NOT political in the U.S. Trump did not represent Republicans there. Nothing visibly upset Mitch McConnell more than being called "Moscow Mitch."

Each party handles war differently of course, in methods, but not in goals. Democrats like to do it openly with the military. Repubicans do secret CIA operations, etc.

I have Russian friends. I have Chinese friends. The American vibe is it doesn't matter who you are, don't tell me what to do or think. Russians adopt that too when they're here. Everyone does. And this means all the West (most of EU, etc). In this I will romantacize. The Ukraine war is one of cultures. Freethinkers HATE bullies.

In the winter as people freeze and starve in the world the West won't cave. It will go the other way. It will become even more barbaric than Russia, what happened in WWII.

Thanks for you comment and apologies for my long reply!
