You might want to add some context for "why". The why is natural resources, trade route, etc.
If a U.S. corporation says it can't make money with the local foreign government (hurting its ability to create jobs at some Congressperson's State or give campaign contributions) then the U.S. will find a way to get someone "better" in charge--the efforts of which you list.
The reason the U.S. keeps helping Israel, I think we both agree?, is that there are corrupt interests behind the scenes arguing that if Netanyahu goes so do all their "deals"--especially with defense contractors.
Also, China and Russia are in the game. But they are much less devious and hypocritical than the U.S. China does everything to pay off whoever is in charge and Russia works through mafia rather than direct government intervention.
